News West Coast A Horrorific Look Back at Crypticon 2010
Crypticon Horror Convention

Okay so things have been a little hectic since we hosted our booth at the Crypticon Horror Convention back on June 18th-20th at the Holiday Inn in Everett, WA. I took a number of photos and videos at the event, and was even proactive in publishing them to Facebook and YouTube, but unfortunately I haven't had two free seconds to mention here on HauntedNight.com where to find them...until now. So, for those of you who didn't already stumble on them, here's how you can access them:

It was our first time attending the event, so we didn't really know what to expect, but for a 3rd year event it pretty much equaled our expectations. The event was moved from Seattle right into our backyard in Everett which meant we would be fools not to attend, but at the same time I think the location hindered attendance by many others. The vendor area was down in the parking garage which was probably appropriate for a horror convention. It created quite the ambiance for those who entered the room, but ultimately probably wasn't the best location to encourage lingering and buying. Luckily the celebrities were down there as well which, to some extent, probably helped keep the numbers up down there.

Nightmare at Beaver Lake Voyeur Dead

There were five haunted houses participating in the event. Dark Hollow Haunted Forest, Nightmare at Beaver Lake, and our very own Haunted Nightmare Haunted House all had booths at the event. Black Lake Asylum scared the bejesus out of Crypticon attendees in their mini-haunt and Stocker Farms' Field of Screams hosted a killer party Saturday night in one of the conference rooms. While we did talk to a number of people at our booth, it was a bit of a challenge to get people to linger and learn more about our respective haunted attractions due to the simple fact that people like to window shop and we didn't really have physical products to sell. I do think the visibility will go a long way towards educating the community about the various haunted houses that are available though. Plus, I found the biggest benefit to our involvement was simply getting to know our fellow haunters a little more. We all share the same "flair for scare" and just getting together to share ideas and talk shop is always a great time. Plus, for the first time ever, we all had something in common to promote - our VIP Fright Pass! Field of ScreamsThis October, participating haunted attractions will be selling VIP Fright Passes for just $10. They can then be presented at other participating haunts for 50% off the VIP line or 25% off the standard line. So now we all know a little more about the other haunts that we'll all be helping to promote! Check out http://vipfrightpass.com to learn more.

Definitely don't quote me on this, but I have a feeling Crypticon will be moving south again next year. We had a great time so we'll surely see you back in Seattle for Crypticon 2011 next summer!
