The 13th Door haunted attraction in Tigard, Oregon has been asked to close their doors following the 2006 Halloween season. This comes as sad news to a south Portland community who after five successful years have come to rely on the 13th Door as a must-see Halloween attraction.
When questioned about the surprise eviction notice, owner Raymond Latocki was unclear about his future plans. Having already experienced and achieved success in the haunt business, Latocki stated that "the hard work is not worth the pain(s)...then again if I find the right place, things may change!"

One of the greatest pains for haunters, especially professionals with big, elaborate sets and props, is storage. From the costs to the various efforts involved with striking, building and transporting the set, storage is always of great concern. Great care must also be taken in storing Halloween props otherwise bad things can happen. For example, latex in hot trailers can appear a little too scary once unpacked. Latocki is taking all of this into consideration when planning his next move.
One option he is considering is auctioning off a substantial portion of his haunted house equipment, save for a few key pieces which he will put to use in his next endeavor. Pieces he is considering auctioning off include hundreds of walls, costumes ranging from military to gothic, seventy 1958 hospital beds, office furniture, computers, lighting, audio equipment, animatronics and various props such as human body parts, pigs and beef.
Latocki intends to go out with a bang and will be "pulling out all the stops to make this (year's event) the best ever". For more information about the 13th Door haunted attraction, visit
